York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nursing Associate (Band 4) to join the Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit at York Hospital. Role Overview
The Nursing Associate will work within a multidisciplinary team on a 26-bed Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit, supporting patients from admission to discharge. The role involves direct patient care, supervision of junior staff, and collaboration with clinical teams. This is an in-person role with no remote interview option.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care under NMC standards
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care
- Update risk assessments using electronic systems
- Supervise junior staff and delegate tasks appropriately
- Support student nurses as assessor/supervisor
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and clinical teams
- Uphold Trust values and maintain healthy team relationships
Required Skills and Experience
Essential
- Registered Nursing Associate with NMC registration
- Experience in acute care or stroke services
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to professional standards and patient-centred care
Desirable
- Interest in stroke care and continuous improvement
- Experience supporting student nurses
- Familiarity with NHS electronic care systems
