Adecco is recruiting a Leaving Care Advisor on behalf of a public sector client based in Romford, East London/Essex. This role offers hybrid working, competitive pay, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of care leavers aged 16β25.
About the Role
The Leaving Care Advisor will provide tailored support and guidance to care leavers aged 16β25, helping them transition to independent living. The role focuses on empowering young people, ensuring they access the right services, and supporting them in education, training, and employment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support and advice to care leavers aged 16β25
- Build positive relationships and encourage participation in decision-making
- Advocate and explain complex information in accessible ways
- Assess individual needs, identify risks, and set realistic goals
- Manage a caseload and complete assessments within required timescales
- Advise on financial entitlements and ensure care leavers receive support
- Coordinate services with partner agencies (housing, health, education)
- Support access to training, education, and employment opportunities
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant qualification in childcare, education, health, or social care (NVQ 3 or equivalent/higher)
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships
- Understanding of trauma and its impact on young people
- Experience in assessing needs and managing risks in complex situations
- Proactive attitude towards helping care leavers achieve independence
