Body and Mind Healthcare Clinic is seeking a proactive and security-conscious IT Support Specialist to support the day-to-day operation of IT systems across the clinic. This role involves providing technical support to clinical and administrative staff, ensuring systems, networks, and security controls remain reliable, compliant, and available.

Job Summary: The IT Support Specialist will provide first- and second-line support, manage networks and firewalls, administer user accounts and devices, and ensure compliance with NHS, GDPR, and Cyber Essentials standards. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, communication abilities, and a security-aware mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support & Service Desk: Provide IT support to clinical and non-clinical staff, diagnose and resolve issues with Windows laptops, printers, scanners, smartcard readers, VPN connectivity, and Microsoft 365 services, support SystemOne access and smartcard troubleshooting, log and manage IT support tickets.
  • Systems, Network & Firewall Support: Manage LAN/Wi-Fi connectivity and network switches, support firewall configuration, VPN troubleshooting, and monitoring security logs, liaise with service providers for advanced issues.
  • User, Device & System Administration: Manage user accounts across Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and NHS systems, support onboarding/offboarding processes, configure and manage devices via Microsoft Intune, assist with software deployment and updates.
  • Security, Compliance & NHS Alignment: Support compliance with Cyber Essentials, GDPR, and DSP Toolkit, assist with endpoint protection, encryption, firewall controls, and incident response, handle sensitive data with confidentiality.
  • IT Assets, Documentation & Change Control: Maintain records of IT assets, licences, and configurations, create and update IT procedures, user guides, and documentation, provide basic user training on Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and secure access, liaise with NHS teams, suppliers, and managed IT providers.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in IT Support / IT Technician / Service Desk role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking.
  • Working knowledge of Windows environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Intune management.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Strong communication skills and user-focused approach.
  • Experience supporting SystemOne or other NHS clinical systems.
  • Exposure to VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in healthcare or regulated environments.
  • IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, ITIL Foundation).
  • Knowledge of Cyber Essentials, GDPR, DSP Toolkit.
