NHS Scotland is hiring a Screening Officer to join the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme at Kings Cross Hospital in Dundee. This full-time, permanent role involves supporting the National Bowel Screening Helpline and handling administrative duties. A future relocation to Ninewells Hospital may be required.

  • Location: Kings Cross Hospital, Dundee (possible future relocation to Ninewells)
  • Salary: £25,694–£27,900 per annum (Band 2, pro rata)
  • Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday–Friday (rotational helpline coverage 8am–5pm)
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible under Home Office guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone calls, emails, and letters from screening participants
  • Collate data from Health Boards and GP practices
  • Perform general office duties and data input
  • Maintain accurate records and support helpline operations
  • Work independently and as part of a team

Requirements

  • Previous experience in call handling and data entry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Friendly, professional manner and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and work without direct supervision
  • Knowledge of healthcare environments (preferred but not essential)
  • Must meet Healthcare Support Worker Induction standards and Code of Conduct

Additional Information

  • NHS Scotland will reduce the full-time working week to 36 hours from April 2026 with no change in pay
