With a big employer, you’ll often start out in one of their Regional Parts Hubs. You might start in warehouse and distribution to understand the foundations of the hub then spend some time with the administration team to understand how they operate. You’ll then train on the phones speaking to customers and selling parts. Parts hubs themselves are typically regional sales and distribution centres for makes of cars and vehicles and provide a parts service to UK dealers. You can be a parts advisor in a garage or accident repair specialist, helping to keep the wheels turning by ordering vehicle parts, paint, materials, and equipment needed to service, maintain, and repair all different types of vehicles.
As a Parts Advisor, you can often expect to:
- Provide internal and external clients and partners with professional, reliable and efficient customer service
- Learn how to identify vehicle parts to support sales, both face‑to‑face and over the phone
- Work alongside on‑site Technicians to ensure they have the parts needed to complete their daily work
- Undertake regular stock checks, ordering parts when required, with a strong focus on organisation
- Develop the skills to ensure the department is a safe place to work by optimising space
