Bangor University’s Student Experience team is seeking a suitably qualified and highly motivated individual to support the delivery of a high-quality student experience across the University. This is a full-time, permanent position. The standard working week is 36.25 hours, primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as required.
You will be part of a busy team that works to ensure that members of senior staff are supported to a high level. You will have good administrative and organisational skills, competent IT skills as well as experience of providing excellent customer service. You will be a strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to demonstrate initiative.
Candidates should be educated to a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A* - D (including English and Maths) or NVQ level 1 in a relevant subject area. The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.
This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work-life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview. Purpose of the Job
The Student Experience Clerical Assistant will provide general administrative support to the Student Experience team, assisting with routine tasks to support the delivery of student engagement activities and services. The role holder will support day-to-day administration, assist with communications, maintain basic records, and help with the organisation of events and activities under the guidance of senior team members. This role is vital in supporting the smooth running of student experience activities and ensuring services are accessible and well-organised.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing and sending student communications using agreed formats.
- Support updates to student-facing webpages by passing information to relevant staff.
- Help organise events by preparing materials, managing attendance lists, and assisting on the day.
- Attend student events to support delivery of the student experience programme.
- Provide administrative support for student internships (e.g. recording applications, updating spreadsheets).
- Assist with student surveys by helping distribute information and track responses.
- Prepare simple summaries of information (e.g. basic figures or lists) as requested.
- Provide general administrative support for student experience initiatives.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required.

- Carry out routine administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and document preparation.
- Assist with arranging meetings and events (e.g. booking rooms, preparing materials).
- Provide front-line support by responding to enquiries and directing students, staff or visitors to the appropriate service.
- Support the preparation of standard communications such as emails, notices or social media using templates or guidance.
- Input and update information on university systems accurately.
- Maintain records and filing systems (electronic and paper-based).
- Check data for errors and report issues to Manager.
- Handle confidential information in line with university procedures.
- Resolve straightforward queries using guidance and standard procedures.
- Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues as required, particularly during busy periods.
- Assist with activities across the team as directed.
- Communicate clearly and politely with students, staff, and visitors.
- Attend training sessions and team meetings as required.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications / Training
- Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A* - D (incl. English and Maths) or NVQ level 1 in a relevant subject area.
Desirable:
- NVQ level 2 in a relevant subject area.
- Basic IT qualification.
- Customer service or administration training.
Essential Experience / Knowledge
- Experience of working in an administrative or customer service environment (including voluntary or part-time work).
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience of dealing with enquiries.
Desirable
- Experience of supporting events or administrative processes.
- Experience of working with confidential information.
Skills/Abilities
- Good organisational skills with ability to follow instructions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
