Research Project Support Officer – School of Environmental & Natural Sciences, Bangor University (Fixed‑term, full‑time). Salary: £30,805 – £37,174 p.a. (Grade 6). Contract until 30 April 2027. The post is funded by Cancer Research Wales.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide desk‑based research support to the team, including data collection, data entry, literature searches and assistance with the design and implementation of research.
  • Analyse publicly available gene‑expression data for primary tumours, metastases, and non‑tumour tissues, with a focus on the Hox family of transcription factors.
  • Assist with statistical analyses of data and support the preparation of materials for publication, conferences and stakeholder presentations.
  • Participate in the administration of the research project: arranging meetings, monitoring financial controls, gathering invoices, and preparing financial reports.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in performance reviews and developmental activities.

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant biological science.

Essential Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience in bioinformatic analyses of gene‑expression data.
  • Experience in data collection, entry, literature searches, research design and statistical analyses.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in areas related to the post.

Desirable Experience / Knowledge

  • Analysis of cancer gene‑expression data or human gene‑expression data in general.
  • Familiarity with cancer biology and cancer gene‑expression databases.

Essential Skills / Abilities

  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent computer skills, including R and/or Python.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
