A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Analyst / Developer to work in the Digital Solutions division of the Digital and Estates Infrastructure Directorate. As part of Digital Solutions, the role will join a talented team of analysts and developers who are responsible for all in-house software solutions and interfaces to external systems across the entire university.
The successful candidates will have a degree in a related subject or significant relevant experience. You will have significant experience developing and supporting corporate solutions. You may have previous experience of ERP and other key University systems including Ellucian Banner, Business Intelligence and Information Management Systems or you may have good coding skills. You’ll be a problem solver by nature with a broad set of skills gained from providing development and support to a wide range of business needs.
The post is permanent and full-time and benefits from being eligible to the nationally supported USS pension scheme and various other employee benefit schemes including sports facilities and child care. The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible. This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview. For this role, there is a minimum requirement to be in the Bangor office two days a week or operationally as required. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
Overview: Located in North Wales only a stone’s throw from the Eryri National Park, Bangor University is a long-established university with an international reputation for the quality of its teaching and research. The Digital and Estates Infrastructure directorate (DEI) is responsible for providing, developing and maintaining IT facilities and services across the University, supporting staff and students to use those facilities and services. Purpose of the Job: The role holder will assist in the development, support and maintenance of in-house software and ERP systems using the role holder’s experience and skills to complement colleagues within the team. The role will also involve working with others across the university to support these systems.
- Work with academic and professional services staff to model and optimise end-to-end business processes (e.g. admissions, enrolment, assessment, research grants).
- Develop solutions using both in-house coding and configuration of existing ERP systems.
- Support and maintain the data warehousing solution for temporal analytics needs.
- Assist in maintaining the security of all systems by ensuring updates to all systems are undertaken in a timely fashion and systems are configured robustly and securely.
- Communicate with the different business units and people, helping to translate their requirements to system specifications.
- Support various data reporting platforms.
- Work with Project Managers and teams to support transformational and operational digital projects.
- Ensure comprehensive technical documentation for all solutions is maintained.
- Support institutional statutory and regulatory reporting requirements by ensuring accurate, auditable data pipelines.
- Provide second- and third-line support for business-critical applications, including incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Participate in change management activities, including impact analysis, release planning, and stakeholder communication.
The working hours of the post are between 36.25 and 48 hours per week, working between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
Other Duties And Responsibilities: The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities. - Essential: Degree in a related subject or significant relevant experience.

- Essential: Either experience of supporting and developing solutions within ERP systems in a comparable institution; or experience in coding software solutions to a high standard. Evidence of supporting and developing solutions utilising at least one other key business systems. Experience of working effectively within a team and collaborating with others to achieve a goal.
- Desirable: Experience of supporting student record systems. Experience of supporting financial ERP systems. Understanding of basic accounting principles. Evidence of supporting and developing solutions utilising at least one other key university business systems. Experience of supporting other university business systems (e.g. Library Management Systems).

- Essential: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task. Drive, self-motivation and ability to work under own initiative. Demonstrable ability to think around issues and look at the wider picture to provide solutions through a variety of problem-solving techniques. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage competing end-user demands and time-critical schedules, prioritising simultaneous issues and rapidly evaluating alternate action plans. Ability to manage own time effectively and to be prompt and punctual. Excellent analytical skills and ability to develop clear technical statements of work. Able to analyse customers’ system, process and data requirements. Either able to design and test solutions in ERP systems or able to code in a language such as Python. Be able to author data reports within U4BW, PowerBI or another leading reporting technology. Ability to troubleshoot complex multi-factorial application/systems problems, working with a range of colleagues, external colleagues/experts, and suppliers.
- Desirable: Ability to visually represent business processes using BPM. SQL skills to query and update underlying data as required. Ability to author reports in PowerBI.

- Essential: The post requires a willingness to work occasionally outside these hours (e.g. occasional weekend / evenings) to undertake work that cannot be undertaken during office hours (e.g. application upgrades) and on occasion undertake emergency work to solve a critical issue.
