About the role

We are looking for a Subject Lead in Digital Marketing to take academic ownership of our Digital Marketing provision across Higher Education.

This role sits at the point where academic quality, industry relevance and student outcomes come together.

You will lead the development and delivery of Digital Marketing modules, ensuring students gain the practical knowledge, commercial awareness and technical confidence needed to succeed in a fast changing marketing landscape.

You will teach, shape curriculum, support lecturers and act as the subject expert for Digital Marketing across the organisation.

The role will suit someone who understands both the academic requirements of Higher Education and the realities of modern digital marketing, including SEO, paid media, analytics, content, social platforms, customer journeys and the growing impact of AI.

This is an opportunity to build a strong subject area, raise standards and help define how Digital Marketing is taught as School of Coding & AI continues to grow.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Take ownership of Digital Marketing as a subject area across Higher Education provision
  • Lead the development and improvement of Digital Marketing modules, content and learning materials
  • Ensure the curriculum reflects current industry practice, digital tools, platform changes and employer expectations
  • Deliver high quality teaching that connects theory to real world digital marketing activity
  • Support students to build knowledge across SEO, PPC, paid social, email marketing, content, analytics and campaign planning
  • Design, set, mark and moderate assessments in line with academic standards and learning outcomes
  • Provide clear feedback and academic support to help students stay engaged and achieve strong outcomes
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, satisfaction and performance, taking action where needed
  • Maintain consistent teaching, assessment and quality standards across the subject area
  • Contribute to quality assurance activity, including reviews, audits, standardisation and moderation
  • Support and guide lecturers delivering Digital Marketing content, sharing best practice where needed
  • Work closely with academic leaders, programme teams and professional services colleagues
  • Bring industry insight into teaching, curriculum design and assessment
  • Embed employability, commercial awareness and practical digital marketing skills into the subject area
  • Keep up to date with AI, automation, data and emerging trends shaping the future of digital marketing

Requirements

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Degree in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Business, Communications or a closely related field
  • Master’s degree in a relevant subject area
  • Strong industry experience across core digital marketing disciplines, such as SEO, PPC, paid social, content marketing, analytics, email marketing or campaign management
  • Experience teaching, training, coaching or developing others in a professional or academic setting
  • Strong understanding of current digital marketing tools, platforms, trends and employer expectations
  • Experience developing or improving curriculum, training content, learning materials or assessment approaches
  • Ability to set standards, improve quality and drive consistency across a subject area or team
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage students, colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to use data, feedback and performance insight to improve delivery and outcomes
  • A student focused approach with high expectations for quality, engagement and progression

Desirable

  • Experience working in Higher Education, Further Education or a regulated training environment
  • Experience as a module leader, programme lead, subject lead or similar academic role
  • Experience mentoring, supporting or leading lecturers, trainers or junior team members
  • Exposure to quality assurance, course validation, academic review or partner university requirements
  • Professional marketing qualifications or certifications, such as CIM, Google, Meta, Hub Spot or similar
  • Understanding of how AI, automation and data analytics are shaping the future of digital marketing
  • Experience building employer links, live briefs, applied projects or industry informed learning
