Role Overview

  • Classroom Support: Assisting in classroom activities, which may include:
    • Assisting with lesson preparation and planning.
    • Setting up equipment and materials for lessons.
    • Helping students with assignments or classwork.
    • Teaching and supervising students during activities.
    • Providing additional explanations or assistance to individual students who need extra help.
  • Grading and Assessment: Teaching assistant may be responsible for:
    • Grading assignments, quizzes, exams, or other assessments.
    • Providing feedback to students on their work.
    • Recording grades and maintaining accurate records of student performance.
  • Tutoring and Small Group Instruction: Teaching assistant may work with students individually or in small groups to provide:
    • Additional support for students who are struggling with the material.
    • Enrichment activities for students who need extra challenges.
    • Remedial instruction to help students catch up on missed concepts.
  • Administrative Tasks: Teaching assistant may be required to perform various administrative duties, such as:
    • Setting up and maintaining classroom technology.
    • Organising and maintaining classroom materials and supplies.
    • Communicating with parents or guardians about student progress or behaviour.
    • Attending staff meetings or professional development sessions.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2 or more GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D), or equivalent, for a level 2 course
  • 4-5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, for a level 3 course
  • 4-5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths for a T level
  • Ability to communicate clearly with teachers and younger individuals
  • Ability to create an encouraging learning environment for pupils
  • Active listening skills
  • Understanding and sensitivity towards children
  • Excellent knowledge of lessons that pupils are required to learn in class
  • Ability to carry out tasks involving a computer or hand‑device
  • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
  • Willingness to work on different activities conducted inside and outside school premises
