We are looking for an experienced and engaging Academic English & IELTS Tutor to join our team at our Birmingham City Centre campus. The successful candidate will deliver British Council IELTS preparation courses and academic English support sessions for adult learners studying on degree programmes.
The role focuses on developing learners’ academic writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills, while helping them gain the confidence and ability to meet IELTS benchmarks and succeed in higher education.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver engaging IELTS and Academic English sessions to adult learners preparing for degree-level study.
- Design and adapt lesson plans to meet the British Council IELTS curriculum standards.
- Support students in developing academic writing, comprehension, and communication skills.
- Provide guidance and feedback on grammar, essay structure, and exam techniques.
- Use digital learning tools and resources to enhance classroom engagement and progress tracking.
- Monitor student performance and support learners to achieve target IELTS band scores.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high teaching standards and ensure learner success.
- Proven experience teaching IELTS preparation courses or English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
- Strong command of English grammar, writing, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with British Council IELTS assessment standards and methodology.
- Experience teaching adult or degree-level learners in higher education or professional settings.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- CELTA, DELTA, TEFL, or TESOL certification is highly desirable.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, motivating, and student-centred learning environment.
