About The Role

Responsibilities
- Teach Public Health modules to Higher Education learners
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive sessions that develop critical thinking, analytical skills and professional understanding
- Design, review and update learning materials and assessments in line with curriculum and awarding body requirements
- Deliver teaching across key public health topics, including health promotion, epidemiology, health inequalities, population health and public health policy
- Support learners in applying public health theory to real-world health challenges and community settings
- Set, mark and moderate assignments, providing clear and constructive feedback to support progression
- Support students with both academic and pastoral needs, helping them to stay on track and build confidence
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement
- Contribute to quality assurance, course reviews and standardisation activities
- Work with colleagues and external partners so that the curriculum reflects current public health priorities, policy developments and professional practice
- There may be occasional evening or weekend activity for events or open days, agreed in advance
Requirements
- At least 1 year of teaching experience in Higher Education, Further Education, or a similar learning environment, or relevant industry experience alongside the ability to move into teaching
- Degree or equivalent in Public Health, Health Sciences, Health Promotion, Epidemiology or a closely related discipline
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant health-related subject
- Strong knowledge of public health principles, population health, health inequalities and health promotion
- Teaching qualification in Higher Education or Further Education, or willingness to work towards one
Desirable
- Master's degree and/or PhD in Public Health or a related discipline
- Recent or current vocational experience within public health, healthcare, local government, community health or a related field
- Experience teaching public health, health promotion, epidemiology, health policy or related subjects
- Experience designing or updating modules, assessments and learning materials
- Confidence using digital tools in teaching and awareness of how emerging technologies, including AI, are shaping healthcare and education
