About the Role
You would be joining at an important stage in our growth, with real scope to shape how Games Design is delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Games Design modules to Higher Education learners
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive sessions that develop both technical ability and creative thinking
- Design, review and update learning materials and assessments in line with curriculum and awarding body requirements
- Deliver practical teaching across core games design and development areas, including digital graphics, animation and interactive design
- Support learners in building industry relevant skills using tools such as Maya, Substance Painter and Unreal Engine
- Set, mark and moderate assignments, providing clear and constructive feedback to support progression
- Support students with both academic and pastoral needs, helping them to stay on track and build confidence
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement
- Contribute to quality assurance, course reviews and standardisation activities
- Work with colleagues and external partners so that the curriculum reflects current industry practice and emerging trends in games design
- Occasional evening or weekend activity for events or open days, agreed in advance
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- At least 1 year of teaching experience in Higher Education or a similar learning environment, or relevant industry experience with ability to move into teaching
- Degree or equivalent in Games Design, Games Art, Digital Media, Animation or a closely related discipline
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant Games Design or Games Art discipline
- Experience and knowledge of industry relevant software, including Maya, Substance Painter and Unreal Engine
- Teaching qualification in Higher Education or willingness to work towards one
Desirable:
- Recent or current vocational experience in Games Design, Games Art or a related creative digital field
- Experience teaching games development, digital graphics, 3D design, animation or interactive media
- Experience designing or updating modules, assessments and learning materials
- Confidence using digital tools in teaching and awareness of how emerging technology is shaping creative industries
