Overview

Part-Time Curriculum Developer, Commercial Flight Operations – Flight Dispatch. The School of Engineering & Technology at Conestoga College seeks a Part-Time Curriculum Developer to join the Commercial Flight Operations program team. The successful candidate will design and develop the Flight Dispatch course content.

The role involves creating content for a 42-hour course to be delivered in person, comprising up to 14 modules scheduled over a 15-week delivery. The developer will research, write, create, and curate content to provide an equivalent of three hours of teaching per week (lecture and activities). Assessments will be created based on module content, following Conestoga’s School of Engineering and Technology guidelines, with course development and technical support provided throughout.

Responsibilities

  • Design new course material or conduct major course revisions
  • Develop course outcomes, content topics, unit outcomes, resources, instructional plan, evaluation matrix and evaluation description statement, and eConestoga course shell
  • Create course content, developing and adding detailed assessments, rubrics, exams, teaching materials, PowerPoint slides, teaching activities and weekly lesson structures
  • Attend preliminary and regular check-in meetings with a Program and Course Development Consultant
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal departments (e.g. Curriculum Operations)
  • Effectively manage a series of folders and document versions
  • Produce and submit content and activities weekly
  • Engage in the final review and sign-off of each course module
  • Revise course outlines, evaluations, resources and content

Qualifications

  • Current or previous Transport Canada Flight Dispatch licence
  • Minimum three years of experience as a flight dispatcher
  • Experience with curriculum development in adult education and post-secondary contexts is an asset
  • Demonstrated capability to write and create text-based and multi-media learning materials
  • Strong leadership skills and commitment to academic excellence, superior time and project management skills to meet required deadlines
  • Proficient in computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Knowledge and experience using learning management systems (e.g., D2L) is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, intercultural, and collaborative skills
  • Able to work independently with little direct supervision
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
