The Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance (CISWP)’s mission is to improve the safety, wellness, and performance of the Canadian labour force by generating knowledge, transferring research to practice, and strengthening workforce development – all in collaboration with stakeholders. CISWP adopts a transdisciplinary and collaborative approach to build capacity for productive and sustainable work. CISWP has state-of-the-art research infrastructure within two major applied research labs and mobile labs equipped with a variety of dedicated field-based and lab-based ergonomic, health and safety, human performance measurement systems, and a full body photogrammetric anthropometry system. The labs are named for their research mandate: START - Skilled Trades Applied Research and Training, and STRIDE - Skilled Trades Research in Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity.
The Knowledge Transfer & Exchange (KTE) Coordinator will play a pivotal role in fostering relationships and new partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and enhancing the institute's visibility, recognition, and impact. This role involves coordinating partnership building activities, facilitating knowledge transfer and exchange, and engaging with internal and external partners to support the institute's mission of advancing safety, wellness, and performance of the Canadian workforce.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with four days on-site at Conestoga’s Skilled Trades campus located at 25 Reuter Dr. in Cambridge, and one day remote.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements KTE strategies and products to disseminate research findings.
- Facilitates the transfer and exchange of knowledge between the institute and its stakeholders, including researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.
- Organizes and coordinates workshops, seminars, meetings, webinars, and conferences to disseminate research findings and best practices.
- Organizes and executes tours and visits with partners to showcase institute capabilities.
- Develops and manages knowledge-sharing platforms and resources, such as online portals, social media, and publications.
- Engages with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the institute's activities align with their priorities.
- Leads multiple KTE projects simultaneously.
- Identifies prospective industry, community, and government partners with innovation needs that align with the capabilities of the institute and cultivates and maintains relationships with appropriate stakeholders within these organizations.
- Identifies research and technical services opportunities, which will contribute to building capacity, quality, and sustainability at the institute.
- Monitors opportunities in the external environment, funders, government strategies, and industry and community partners to identify applied research interests and needs.
- Communicates with funders to understand external funding opportunities and to facilitate the identification of eligible partners and projects, resulting in the submission of successful grant applications.
- Participates in events, conferences, and meetings of strategic importance to the institute to network with potential partners and represent the business interests of the institute.
- Plans and hosts events that attract private and public sector partners to the institute and speaks at external and internal events, conferences, meetings, etc., about the institute's services and capacity.
- Works collaboratively with the marketing department to develop and maintain marketing materials, the institute's website, and social media.
- Coordinates communication and outreach efforts to raise awareness of the institute's work.
- Fosters a collaborative environment by building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
Client relationship management and project evaluation
- Communicates with private sector, community, and external agencies on project status and progress, and follows up with clients/partners throughout the project and at completion to assess future needs for institute services.
- Obtains feedback from partners and evaluates the success of the project against defined objectives.
- Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of all contacts.
Qualifications
- Masterβs degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Communications, Business, Public Relations or a related field of study is required.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in KTE, with a proven track record of leading KTE activities in a professional setting is required.
- Familiarity with research design and methodology.
- Proficient in project development and project management.
- Knowledgeable about research funding sources.
- Exceptional interpersonal and collaborative relationship building skills.
- Proven experience in knowledge translation, research dissemination, or stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with the health and social services sectors is an asset.
