About the Role
- Open and secure the school premises at the beginning and end of the day.
- Set and manage site security alarms.
- Carry out weekly fire alarm and lighting system testing.
- Identify maintenance requirements and log jobs.
- Complete maintenance tasks and close work orders once jobs have been completed.
- Prepare and submit relevant paperwork and documentation.
- Liaise with contractors attending the school site and support them with access and facilities requirements.
- Monitor contractors and ensure works are carried out appropriately.
- Respond to day-to-day site issues and undertake a variety of practical caretaking duties.
- Support the smooth running of the school by ensuring the premises remain safe, secure and operational.
- Work independently to manage daily site responsibilities while liaising with school staff and external service providers.
Personal Qualities
- Full clean driver's licence
- Previous experience of working in a similarly responsible site role, preferably within a school
- Ability to relate well to children and adults alike
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe storage of materials
- Basic Health & Safety knowledge, and willingness to adhere to the Code of Safe Working Practice (COSWP) for Caretaking and Premises Staff
- A background in plumbing, joinery, general 'handy-work' or DIY would be advantageous
- The willingness to learn and train on the job
- A strong work ethic, the ability to work as part of a team, and a professional and proactive attitude
