About the role:
Our mission at School-Home Support is simple. We get children and young people back in school ready to learn, whatever it takes. We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team and make a difference in children’s lives every day. Based at the setting, you will work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families we support. You will focus on improving attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning. You will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide group of people.
Responsibilities and requirements:
- Provide family support through individual and/or group-based work to improve a child’s attendance and engagement in learning
- Engage with parents/carers, children or individuals to deliver effective support
- Understand factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn
- Work with families from diverse communities
- Provide holistic family support
- Follow safeguarding processes and know the referral routes for safeguarding children

Essential criteria:
- Experience in an education setting or similar role to improve a child’s school attendance and engagement in learning
- Experience working with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
- Understanding of factors affecting a child’s ability to learn
- Experience working with families from diverse communities
- Holistic approach to family support
- Knowledge of safeguarding processes and safeguarding referral routes
