The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Grade 4 Teacher at Northside Elementary/Coulee Montessori beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Projected start date: August 11, 2026.

Wisconsin certification 1777 (Regular Education) or 1088 (Elementary/Middle Level Education) is required. Multiple certifications are preferred. This position will follow the Northside/Coulee Montessori 2026-2027 school year calendar.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in a variety of evaluation and assessment tools.
  • Course work and/or other training specific to elementary education.
  • Course work and/or other training relevant to current trends and learning strategies such as integrated, thematic teaching and performance assessment.
  • Course work and/or other training in student management techniques.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • People skills including positive problem solving, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Technology literacy.
  • Lifelong learning commitment through credentials which reflect post-secondary training, conference attendance, and membership in professional and civic organizations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lessons which reflect and follow district curriculum and which integrate age and developmentally appropriate practices for elementary school students.
  • Develop and implement lessons based on thematic units which integrate reading, language arts, and technology skills along with skills in higher level thinking and research. These plans will also allow for experiences in peer teamwork and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with other staff members in monitoring, planning, and evaluating student performance in intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth.
  • Develop and implement assessment and evaluation processes which accurately reflect and summarize student learning.
  • Maintain accurate student progress and behavioral records.
  • Interpret individual student progress to parents, students, and other professionals through positive conferencing techniques.
  • Practice appropriate inclusion and instruction for students identified for Special Education Needs, English Language Learners (ELL), and High Performance Learners.
  • Actively participate in staff development and other professional growth experiences provided by the school district.
  • Maintain a positive and safe learning environment for students.
  • Maintain positive home-school communications and relations.
  • Complete additional tasks as requested by administrators.
