This role sits within an applied research programme focused on mental health and education. The work spans study design, analysis planning, and competitive grant applications including NIHR funding streams. We are seeking a Senior Statistician to provide methodological advice on the design and analysis of ongoing and planned research. The role involves advising on study design, sample size and power calculations, statistical analysis plans, and the methodological framing of grant applications. You will work directly with the founder and senior research team. Time commitment is flexible and structured around specific deliverables and applications rather than a fixed weekly load. You would work alongside leading researchers from Imperial College London, who are coapplicants on grants currently being submitted.
Key responsibilities
- Advising on study design for trials and evaluations in applied research settings
- Contributing to statistical sections of grant applications, including NIHR submissions
- Reviewing draft protocols and analysis plans from a statistical perspective
- Advising on sample size calculations, randomisation strategies, and analysis approaches
- Supporting interpretation of statistical findings and contributing to research outputs as appropriate
Who this role is for
- Chartered Statistician (CStat) or PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or related field
- Experience designing and analysing trials or evaluations in health, education, or social science settings
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications
- University, CTU, or equivalent institutional affiliation
- Prior NIHR, HTA, or MRC project experience
- Experience with mental health, education, or early intervention research
- Experience advising on grant applications at the design stage
- Familiarity with both individual and cluster randomised designs
