The role is a customer‑facing position based on large new build systems projects. It requires self‑discipline in planning, managing, engineering and delivering project objectives, including leading others through dotted line relationships. The position will be supported by a Project Manager and works closely with the wider New Build Systems team, offering responsibility, rapid development, and progression opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers, sales teams and project managers to understand project objectives and provide technical expertise during the pre‑sales and bidding processes.
- Review and develop project documentation, including functional specifications, technical drawings and control narratives.
- Lead the project team in creating detailed engineering designs—control strategies, network architecture and equipment selection—ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications and managing input from subcontractors.
- Develop I/O schedules, design operation/descriptions, control panel design approvals and plant schematics.
- Work with the Engineering Tools and Process Manager to utilize GDT and GEC for detailed design and delivery of the BMS solution.
- Produce software and graphics, manage change control and capture updates in design schedules, schematics, drawings and documentation.
- Lead the Schneider team on site, act as the technical stakeholder for Schneider Electric Ltd.
- Configure and program BMS controllers, sensors and devices, using script and function blocks.
- Coordinate subcontractors on site, conduct system testing, troubleshooting and commissioning, and maintain records and documentation.
- Lead customer‑site training and handover of operating manuals and procedures.
- Administer the project and subcontractors in partnership with the Project Manager and Commercial/Contract Manager.
- Act as site supervisor for Schneider works, ensure health & safety compliance and promote a safe working environment.
- Use QMS documentation and tools to control standards, proactively identify skill gaps and maintain Schneider safety levels.
Qualifications
- Proven experience designing and implementing BMS projects.
- Proficiency in BMS software platforms (e.g., EcoStruxure Building Operation, Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys) and associated programming languages (BACnet, LonWorks).
- Preference for experience with Schneider products and EcoStruxure.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems and building automation protocols.
- Excellent problem‑solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and potentially lodge away.
- UK driving licence and a HND/HNC in Building Services, Engineering or a relevant bachelor’s degree.
- Vocational qualification and industry training may also be acceptable.
- Electrical qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- SSSTS and ability to hold a CSCS Gold Card Site Supervisor (may require NVQ Level 4).
