Solutions Tender Engineer for Data Centre Critical Power & Cooling
Location: Leeds or Hatfield (Hybrid – minimum 2 days in office: Tuesday & Wednesday)
Role Overview

We are seeking a Solutions Tender Engineer to join our UK Solution Centre tendering team, supporting the growth of our data centre business in a rapidly evolving market driven by cloud, AI, and high‑density computing.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing high‑quality, competitive technical and commercial proposals for integrated data centre infrastructure solutions. You will work across Schneider Electric’s portfolio, including UPS systems, power distribution, indoor and outdoor cooling, rack systems, environmental monitoring (DCIM), and modular/containerised solutions, contributing to projects from concept through to delivery.
You will operate within Schneider’s Customer Project Process (CPP) and work cross‑functionally with sales, global product and factory teams, engineering, and key subject matter experts (SME) (procurement, finance, legal, and contracts, etc.). This collaboration ensures solutions are technically compliant, commercially robust, and aligned with both customer requirements and internal governance. This is a key role supporting complex, high‑value opportunities, offering exposure to cutting‑edge technologies, including high‑density environments, liquid cooling, and sustainable data centre solutions.
About You
- Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure systems (power, cooling, and IT environment)
- Ability to develop end‑to‑end integrated solutions
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost modelling and margin considerations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management capability
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Awareness of energy efficiency and sustainability considerations (e.g. PUE, carbon impact)
- Experience working in a matrix or global organisation (desirable)
Your Qualifications & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- Proven experience in tendering, pre‑sales, or application engineering within data centres or critical infrastructure
- Experience working with multi‑disciplinary infrastructure solutions
- Knowledge of tendering processes and commercial frameworks
Desirable
- Familiarity with data centre standards (e.g. Uptime Institute)
- Experience with modular or prefabricated data centre solutions
- Exposure to hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise environments
