Role Mission: As a Panel Wiring Apprentice, you will learn to construct and assemble high-quality electrical panels that form the foundation of Schneider Electric’s advanced solutions. Through hands-on training, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and innovation, you will help deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable electrical distribution systems, ultimately supporting Schneider Electric’s leadership in energy management and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete a structured programme of on-the-job training across workshop, technical, and commercial environments to gain a broad understanding of business operations, systems, and processes.
  • Undertake further or higher education in electrical or mechanical disciplines on a day-release basis and achieve a BTEC NVQ qualification (or higher, depending on business needs and individual ability).
  • Embrace and actively contribute to Schneider Performance System (SPS) initiatives and support continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain appropriate 5S standards to improve health and safety, quality, working environment, and site appearance.
  • Work safely at all times, demonstrating due regard for your own safety and that of others, in line with Schneider Electric policies.
  • Adhere to Schneider Electric processes and procedures in all aspects of work.
  • Assist in the training and development of others as appropriate.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other functions, working as part of a team.

Training:

During your apprenticeship, you will receive two different types of training. ‘On-the-job’ training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, as your employer. You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform the job you’ve been hired to do. This will include skills and knowledge that fall outside of the apprenticeship but are needed for the job role. As well as providing ‘on-the-job’ training, it is important that we support you in additional ways to ensure your success. Types of support will include:

  • A comprehensive induction
  • Mentoring or regular one-to-one guidance
  • Social enrichment and networking opportunities
  • Performance reviews
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Feedback opportunities

‘Off-the-job’ training is delivered by one of our carefully selected Training Providers during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% (average 6 hours per week) of your working hours completing ‘off-the-job’ training. This is protected time and is a requirement for apprenticeship delivery. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills, and behaviours set out in the apprenticeship standard so you can achieve occupational competence.

Work Pattern:

37.5 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday. Exact start and finish times are to be agreed upon with Line Manager. Some of these hours will be allocated to off-the-job training as part of your Apprenticeship Programme.

Monday to Thursday: 07:55 to 16:25
Friday: 07:55 to 13:25
