Product Design Engineer

Location: Chippenham or Telford (Hybrid)

We’re looking for a Product Design Engineer to join our R&D team, designing low-voltage electrical products used in homes and commercial buildings. You’ll work on new designs and updates to existing product lines, shaping everything from small domestic consumer units to three-phase panel boards used across mainly UK & also global markets.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll turn marketing specifications into CAD models and physical prototypes, collaborating with internal teams like marketing, testing, manufacturing, and purchasing. You’ll have access to an in-house lab, CAD tools (Creo), and strong colleague support to help turn ideas into working, tested products.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and improving products using Creo (with required training if applicable)
  • Creating and updating models, drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation
  • Working closely with manufacturing to understand labour content and costs
  • Collaborating with marketing, commercial, quality teams & also suppliers across the design lifecycle
  • Supporting product testing and compliance with IEC standards
  • Project planning and management with regards to the design activities undertaken

What we’re looking for:

  • HNC/HND (or above) in mechanical, industrial, or production engineering
  • Hands-on CAD experience, ideally with Creo and modules like Sheet Metal or Mold Flow
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small local team
  • Interest in cost-effective, functional product design
  • Experience in the design of sheet metal, pressed steel and plastic mouldings

Hybrid working applies. You’ll be expected to be in the Chippenham office around 2 to 3 days per week. If you’re based in Telford, you’ll have regular travel to Chippenham.
