Make an impact with your tax expertise. At Schneider Electric, sustainability is at the heart of what we do as we help shape a more electric and digital future. We're looking for a Tax Accountant, UK & Ireland to join our Finance team and play an important role in delivering our tax compliance and reporting activities across the UK and Ireland. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on tax compliance experience who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and collaborating across a business.

You'll gain exposure to VAT, Irish Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT), corporation tax and tax accounting, while working alongside experienced Tax and Finance colleagues and contributing to projects that improve the way we work. Reporting to the UK&I Tax Compliance Manager, you'll have ownership of established compliance activities while having the support of the wider team when dealing with more complex or judgemental matters.

  • Supporting the preparation, analysis, reconciliation and filing of UK&I VAT returns, ensuring information is accurate and submitted on time.
  • Managing day-to-day Irish Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) compliance, including contract and payment notifications, deduction authorisations and reconciliations.
  • Working closely with Finance and business teams to investigate discrepancies, resolve tax coding or data issues, and ensure the right information is available for compliance activities.
  • Supporting external tax advisers with UK&I corporation tax compliance, preparing schedules, coordinating information requests and helping keep deliverables on track.
  • Assisting with monthly and annual tax accounting under IFRS across multiple entities.
  • Helping with VAT registrations, deregistration's and changes to existing registrations.
  • Supporting responses to information requests from HMRC, Irish Revenue and other relevant tax authorities, maintaining clear documentation and audit trails.
  • Providing tax input into new business activities and transaction flows, identifying potential VAT or corporation tax considerations for further review.
  • Supporting Finance and IT colleagues with ERP tax configuration testing and the resolution of tax-related system issues.
  • Contributing to tax audits, business risk reviews, transfer pricing documentation and wider tax projects.
  • Looking for practical opportunities to simplify, standardise and digitise our tax and Finance processes.

What will help you succeed? We're looking for someone who combines practical tax experience with curiosity, attention to detail and a collaborative approach.

  • At least 3 years of relevant tax compliance experience, gained within an in-house Tax or Finance team, accounting environment or professional services firm.
  • Practical experience with UK and/or Irish VAT, including preparing VAT workings, reconciliations or statutory submissions.
  • A sound understanding of accounting principles and the ability to interpret and reconcile financial information.
  • Experience managing multiple recurring tax obligations and working to statutory deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Confidence collaborating with Finance teams, business stakeholders and external advisers.
  • An interest in digital tools, ERP systems, automation and process improvement.

A professional accounting or tax qualification is not required for this role. If you're currently studying towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CTA or an equivalent qualification, we'd be happy to hear from you, but we're equally interested in candidates who have developed strong, practical tax compliance experience through their careers.

This role offers an opportunity to build your tax career within an international organisation while gaining broad exposure across UK and Irish tax.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Develop your experience across VAT, RCT, corporation tax and tax accounting.
  • Work alongside knowledgeable colleagues across Tax, Finance, IT and the wider business.
  • Gain exposure to both recurring compliance activities and wider business and tax projects.
  • Contribute ideas that improve processes, controls and digital ways of working.

If you're an experienced tax professional who enjoys getting into the detail, solving problems and working with different teams, we'd love to hear from you.
