Role Mission:

As a Continuous Improvement & Quality Engineer within our Quality team focused on manufacturing, your mission is to ensure that the products we make meet customer requirements and to drive continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing lines. This plays a pivotal role in advancing our digital manufacturing solutions and driving operational excellence. The Leeds plant of Schneider Electric typically focuses on manufacturing and assembling electrical distribution and control equipment. This may include products like switchgear, transformers, and various other components that support energy management and automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure product compliance using tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Poka Yoke, Jidoka etc.
  • Manage complaints within your area of responsibility ensuring timely deployment of containment, corrective & preventative action.
  • Lead continuous improvement programs such as 8D, lean six sigma, Red X, Kata QRCI etc.

Training

During your apprenticeship, you will receive two different types of training.

  • ‘On-the-job’ training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, as your employer. You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform the job you’ve been hired to do. This will include skills and knowledge that fall outside of the apprenticeship but are needed for the job role.
  • ‘Off-the-job’ training is delivered by one of our carefully selected Training Providers during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% (average 6 hours per week) of your working hours completing ‘off-the-job’ training. This is protected time and is a requirement for apprenticeship delivery.

Work Pattern

37.5 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday. Exact start and finish times are to be agreed upon with Line Manager. Some of these hours will be allocated to off-the-job training as part of your Apprenticeship Programme.

Skills and Attributes

Essential

  • Communicating technical ideas clearly to others.
  • Able to think fast and clearly in a fast paced environment to resolve complex problems.

Desirable

  • Inquisitive to understand manufacturing processes, digital tools and their relationship.
  • Able to utilize continuous improvement techniques such as 8D, Lean six sigma, red x, kata QRCI etc.

Education

5 GCSEs to include Math’s, English and STEM related subject grade C/4 or above plus at least 2 A levels at grade B or above in Mathematical-based subject and a STEM or additional mathematics-related subject, or an Engineering BTEC Level 3 with at least 120 credits at DM level, or EAL Diploma in an Engineering - based subject at D level, or Equivalent qualifications such as Technical levels at DM or above.

No pre-requisite experience required.
