Apprentice Level: UK Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship Programme – Building Services
Salary: £21,000
Role Mission: As a Service Representative Apprentice, you will work within the service team and learn new skills practically in electrical/mechanical/cooling engineering as well as knowledge of engineering theory and Schneider Electric Products. Through dedicated hands‑on experience you will immerse yourself in our technical expertise, customer support and solution‑driven initiatives whilst contributing to the delivery of exceptional services, maintenance, and problem‑solving strategies. You will travel across the UK to customer locations to support this exciting fast‑paced business as we accelerate the decarbonisation journey of our customers offering an exclusive end‑to‑end service portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Fully trained on Cooling product portfolio
- Eco Structure Asset Advisor – Installation and Connectivity
- Installation and Commissioning of Uninterrupted Power Supply, Cooling, Switchgear and Transformers
- Modifications/refurbishment to existing plant and equipment
- Support Maintenance/Inspection Teams
- Perform site risk assessments and complete lock out tag out safety documents
- Support Project Manager and Country Service Manager with customer work scopes
- Document test results and produce site work reports
- Promote the Company’s service activities, identify and pursue business opportunities
Training
During your apprenticeship, you will receive two different types of training. On‑the‑job training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, your employer. You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform the job you’ve been hired to do, including skills and knowledge that fall outside of the apprenticeship but are needed for the role. Off‑the‑job training is delivered by a selected Training Provider during normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% (average 6 hours per week) of your working hours completing this protected training, which covers the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the apprenticeship standard.
Types of support will include:

Work Pattern
37.5 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday. Exact start and finish times are to be agreed with Line Manager. Some of these hours will be allocated to off‑the‑job training as part of your Apprenticeship Programme.
Skills and Attributes
Essential
- Full UK Drivers License
- An aptitude for electrical/mechanical engineering
- Good understanding of IT and ability to work with computers and learn new software packages
- Be required to work at nuclear, military locations
- Be self‑motivated and resourceful, flexible with respect to changing tasks and available at the times required to perform them
Desirable
- Be customer/results focused and demonstrate a ‘service’ disposition
- Be willing to learn similar disciplines on related equipment
Education
Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above including Mathematics, English and a STEM‑related subject. Applicants must also have a minimum of 48 UCAS Points made up from A‑Levels, BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Construction or Engineering or equivalent.
Driving License Required
Full UK Driving License is essential; we will accept applicants in the process of obtaining one. If your role is a ‘Travelling Appointment’ that requires a vehicle, this will be provided by Schneider Electric.
Previous Experience Required
No prerequisite experience required but a demonstrable interest in engineering through school or hobby interests.

No visa sponsorship for apprenticeship positions. Certain visa types may not meet eligibility criteria for apprenticeship funding under current government guidelines.
