Description & Scope:

As part of the Technical Communications team, you will:

  • Create and update operating and maintenance content with relevant subject matter experts.
  • Support engineering project teams, facilitating the creation of high-quality and accurate technical documents such as assembly and test procedures and user guides. This is for exciting new projects involving hardware (mechanical, electronics, electrical) and some software.
  • Produce user documentation for our products to agreed corporate standards and timescales. Examples are maintenance guides, assembly and test procedures, operational guides, etc.

Your goal is to present technical information in a clear and concise manner that can be understood by a global audience. You must be a self-starter with strong writing and communication skills, capable of planning your work and keen to learn and take on new challenges. You want to be part of a team creating high-quality, accurate, and user-friendly content for the benefit of a global audience. Training and mentoring will be provided in all aspects of technical writing and information design to help you create content that is easy to find, easy to use, and easy to understand for end users.

Deliverables:

  • Create, update, and maintain technical assembly, maintenance, and operational content by working closely with project teams.
  • Work closely with the engineers to observe the assembly of products and to document the procedures.
  • Write structured documentation in a content management system that maximizes comprehension and ease of use.
  • Write clear, concise, and accurate content for a wide range of users, including users whose first language is not English.
  • Edit documents supplied by subject matter experts according to corporate standards and style.
  • Get source information from internal project documentation sources such as CAD drawings, specifications, and interviews with project team members as well as from change request tickets.
  • Manage review cycles and incorporate review comments.
  • Produce and edit graphics, such as taking photos during engineering assembly, cropping photos, adding annotations/callouts, and repurposing engineering 3D CAD models to produce renders/exploded views.
  • You may also get involved in creating animated assembly sequences or short how-to videos.

Qualifications :

  • Studying Bachelors in Aerospace, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Any previous writing experience, especially writing technical documents or any instructional writing would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of basic engineering principles so you can work effectively with the engineering team to help create the documentation and observe engineering builds while documenting them.
  • Any experience with software such as CAD, PhotoShop, and Illustrator to view products, and create and edit images.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to manage the flow of information from contributors and reviewers.
  • Strong attention to detail, with an eye for improving existing work.
