SLB Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of SLB's global network of research and engineering centres. SCR is a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art research and computing facilities. We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.

Job Summary: We are seeking a creative self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop models for multiphase fluid flow. The job will require experience in first-principle and numerical modelling approaches and working with experimentalists and domain experts. In this role you will work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and engage with business and engineering teams to ensure their solutions have a significant impact.

  • Work in modelling multiphase fluid flow (gas, liquid, and solid flow physics)
  • Work with experimentalist and production domain experts to build and validate models and concepts and match models to experimental or field data
  • Engage and collaborate with SLB technical community
  • Ability to develop novel solutions to research and engineering problems, and articulate them to the technology team and management
  • Publish scientific papers, write patent applications and attend conferences

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Fluid mechanics, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Expertise in first-principle modelling approaches to Multiphase Flow Dynamics (Gas, Liquid, and Solid Flow physics)
  • Multi-physics CFD modelling of multiphase flows (Ansys, OpenFoam, COMSOL)
  • Programming experience highly desirable
  • Building and validating reduced-order models from high-fidelity simulations is highly desirable
  • Experience in modelling of mechanical systems, fatigue analysis
  • Understanding of Production Systems is desirable
  • Relevant publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals are desirable
