Location: SLB’s Crawley hub — modern office environment, centre of operations for Geosolutions and Exploration Data in Europe. UK-based research and engineering teams are located in Crawley and Cambridge.

Full-waveform inversion (FWI) and depth imaging are rapidly evolving areas in subsurface imaging. We are seeking an experienced geophysicist with expertise in depth imaging, preferably FWI, to join our headquarters geophysics team and enable rapid introduction of new techniques into regional operations and support development of innovative customer solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Early adoption and evaluation of new technology
  • Development of innovative depth imaging solutions, working closely with clients
  • Collaborate with R&E and technical leaders in operations teams
  • Internal and external publication and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute expertise in earth model building and depth imaging
  • Hold a qualification to at least MSc level
  • Knowledge or experience in data science and machine learning applications to subsurface imaging is a bonus

Qualifications:

  • Graduate-level education in geophysics or a related field (MSc or higher)
  • Strong background in depth imaging and preferably FWI
  • Experience contributing to client-focused geophysical solutions

BlueFlex / Working Arrangements:

Open to flexible, hybrid working with a combination of on-site and remote days.
