We are looking to recruit a Lift and Escalators Service Engineer to join our team working in the North West of England. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by the contract terms on portfolio lift/escalator equipment for the North Region and Scotland. They will also be responsible for the completion of Schindler safety inspections and closure of any open non-conformity to current legislation or standards. They will also be expected to cover the 'on call' rota for out of hours calls, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc) across multi-unit sites and third-party interfaces.
  • Check the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, checks to include speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment.
  • Carry out the routine inspection and adjustment in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift/escalator and complete service documentation.
  • Carry out expert fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals, and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service, including third party interfaces.
  • Carry out site surveys.

Employees are required to carry out all works in accordance with the Company’s Quality Corporate policy and attend all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills. All employees are required to work in accordance with the Company’s Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour. Employees will be required to contribute to the Company’s safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed measures.

Experience in Lift/Escalator Servicing/Maintenance/Repairs preferred. Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent. Expert electrical and mechanical knowledge/skills, including multi-brand equipment. Expert problem-solving skills and good technical report writing skills. Manual dexterity is required for repetitive lifting; good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors). Mentoring and carrying out training to trained and advanced fitters. Holds a full UK driving licence.
