Your mission

We are currently looking for adjunct faculty to teach following subject areas in our campuses of Heidelberg (Germany) / Paris (France) / Madrid (Spain) / Florida (USA) (On Campus; Off-Campus; Remote as required):

·English Language and Composition Writing

· Information Technology

Hours: Per Course taught min. 48 – max. 64 hours per month
(including class preparation, grading and other administrative duties)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Teaches assigned courses within the qualified discipline maintaining a student load within University guidelines for Adjunct Faculty.
  • Assists in curriculum maintenance and innovation of content.
  • Completes projects as directed by the Academic Dean.
  • Serves as course content expert and reviews individual courses for rigor and currency as assigned.
  • Responds to student inquiries in a timely manner according to University policy, utilizing university assigned email account.
  • Maintain announcement and communication schedule in each course in a timely manner.
  • Review student submissions, apply appropriate rubric to assign grades* (special attention required for dual-degree courses delivered through SIU partnership with University of Roehampton, UK).
  • Provide relevant, substantive, courteous, and value-added both summative and formative feedback to students in a timely manner through the Blackboard Learning Management System. Feedback should explain point deduction/loss.
  • Resolves academic concerns, including academic integrity, grade inflation, and grade challenges within University established timelines.
  • Responds to student questions regarding assessment items with relevant and courteous comments that address the specific concern.
  • Facilitates and responds to Discussion Board submission according to University policy.
  • Utilizes Blackboard Results Center and class assignments to identify at-risk students, send individual and group messages, and observe student activity. Assist students in the successful completion of courses.
  • Uphold the University Academic Integrity policy.
  • Participate in scheduled remote meetings, University training sessions, and faculty development opportunities.
  • Submits in a timely manner any administrative academic duties/documentation as required by the US and local accreditors
  • Compliance with faculty and staff training and professional development requirements of US and local authorities
  • For assigned courses that utilize e-books, support and integrate e-books into faculty-to-student engagement and interaction strategies.
  • Read Faculty Handbook, Student Handbook, SIU University Catalog and utilize these resources as the basis for decisions and actions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Academic Dean, Chief Academic Officer / Provost and /or Campus Director.

Your Profile

Education and/or Experience

  • Terminal degree (PhD) required for Graduate courses and Master Degree for Undergraduate courses, with at least 18 graduate credit hours required in the field of study delivered.
  • 3 – 5 year of professional experience at university level teaching preferred
  • 1+ year of online teaching experience hybrid and/or hyflex course delivery tools (desirable)
  • Practical experience with Blackboard (LMS) or comparable e-learning tools (desirable)

Language Skills

Either native English speaker or proficiency level of English competency. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook Contact Management systems; Internet software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Experience with Blackboard (Collaborate Ultra) preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
