About The Role
Planning Enforcement Technician

Join our Planning Enforcement Team at Forest of Dean District Council as a Planning Enforcement Technician, where you\’ll play a vital role in supporting our development management services. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative and professional team, with potential to move across planning services as your interests and career grow. In this role, you will be responsible for processing planning enforcement cases, supporting planning applications, and delivering related tasks that ensure our district remains a well-managed and protected environment.
Your key responsibilities will include receiving and prioritising complaints, using mapping systems and research to assess sites, maintaining accurate case records, and liaising with stakeholdersall while ensuring strict confidentiality. Youll monitor consents, assist with planning appeals and land charge searches, and help maintain service performance data.
We\’re looking for someone with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers. If you\’re calm under pressure, confident in challenging situations, and detail-oriented, wed love to hear from you.
You will need
- Proven experience dealing with the public with excellent negotiation skills
- A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above, must include Maths and English
- Good level of IT skills – MS Office
- Communicates effectively at all levels (excellent verbal and written skills)
- Relevant recognised qualification – Desirable Special Conditions
- Valid UK driving licence and use of a car for business purposes where necessary
