Permanent contract. Full time or Part time will be considered. Please note that the salary will be pro rata for part-time working arrangements. Forest of Dean District Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Valuer to join its Property & Assets team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Valuer with strong estates management experience who wants to take a lead role in managing and developing the Council's property portfolio. You'll provide expert advice on a wide range of property matters, including valuations, lease events, tenancy management, acquisitions, disposals, and property development projects. Principally undertaking valuation work, whilst also working in conjunction with the Estates Team and Building Surveyor on many property related matters.
You’ll prepare and present reports to senior stakeholders, committees, Cabinet, and Council, helping ensure that the Council's assets are effectively managed, aligned with strategic objectives, and delivered in a commercially aware and professional manner. Working closely with the Property & Assets Manager, you’ll join a collaborative and supportive team, overseeing all valuation matters, together with day-to-day estates management and strategic property initiatives. This role offers professional growth, the opportunity to influence key decisions, and a chance to make a tangible impact across the district.
What you will need:- Degree in general practice surveying or equivalent, with relevant professional qualification (e.g., RICS).
- Minimum of five years experience in valuation of commercial property, land and residential property.
- Strong understanding of RICS valuation standards, statutory requirements, and estates best practice.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Experience managing complex property transactions and working with internal and external stakeholders.
- IT literacy including property indices, Microsoft Office, Google, and GIS systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Agile working with a mix of home and office-based work.
- Some evening/weekend meetings may be required, plus site visits.
