A full-time and demanding Design Planning position where previous experience in project planning is key.
Based at our client’s head office, the successful candidate will work within the client’s busy Design studio alongside the M&S Food categories, SGK Account Management team, and M&S Project Managers. It is preferable if the applicant has retail or Brand Design planning experience.
This role requires impeccable organization, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and manage projects from start to finish. A professional approach of the highest standards is essential. The role involves supporting the Design Planning Team, SGK Design Manager, and Account Management teams in project planning, batching, and data management, with strong Excel skills required.
As a Design Planner, your primary focus will be ensuring project and task timelines are met while maintaining excellent client relationships. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented with enthusiasm and determination to succeed.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage critical path timelines for each packaging project, ensuring milestones are met and risks are highlighted.
- Ensure all briefs and missing elements necessary for design work are available on time.
- Identify, resolve, and escalate issues impacting project delivery deadlines.
- Maintain accurate work-in-progress trackers and project folders.
- Support data collation for accurate, timely reporting on studio activities, risks, and issues.
- Organize meetings with Design and Category Teams to support project progress within timelines.
- Coordinate with the Art Buying team to confirm shoot dates and briefs.
- Work with Product Developers to organize products and clear briefs for shoots.
- Collaborate with copywriting to ensure requirements align with project timelines.
- Coordinate with Product Developers and SGK Account Managers to ensure cutters are available for design creation as per timelines.
Team and Client Behaviors
- Communicate with Category and Suppliers face-to-face, via phone, and email, managing expectations and escalating issues appropriately.
- Prioritize and manage your workload effectively to meet deadlines.
- Keep administrative duties up to date and inform your line manager when support is needed.
- Act as an ambassador for SGK, developing and maintaining relationships with key contacts.
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude and support team members during absences.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary.
