The Role: As our Scenic Paint Sprayer / Prepper, you will prepare, spray and finish sets, props and staging to an exceptional standard. Your work must look impressive under camera and stage lighting, making accuracy and attention to detail essential. Working alongside our skilled makers, carpenters and designers, you will help transform creative ideas into finished scenic pieces.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and spraying sets, props and staging for television, film and live events
  • Filling, sanding, priming and preparing a variety of surfaces
  • Setting up and adjusting spray guns for different materials and finishes
  • Matching colours and finishes to samples, drawings and client specifications
  • Applying coatings to timber, MDF, metal and composite materials
  • Producing consistently high-quality finishes that perform under camera and stage lighting
  • Working efficiently to meet demanding production deadlines
  • Keeping the spray booth, guns and associated equipment clean, serviced and safe
  • Following appropriate health and safety procedures and spray-booth working practices

About You: We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience as a Paint Sprayer, Spray Painter, Scenic Sprayer, Spray Finisher or Paint Prepper
  • Strong surface preparation, spraying and finishing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
  • Confidence setting up and adjusting spray guns
  • A sound understanding of coatings and safe spray-booth practices
  • The ability to work effectively in a busy, hands-on workshop
  • A reliable, self-motivated and flexible approach
  • The ability to commute daily to our Croydon workshop

Experience in any of the following would be useful, although it is not essential:

  • Scenic construction, theatre, television, film, exhibitions or display production
  • Two-pack and water-based paint systems
  • Hand-painted or specialist decorative finishes
  • Spraying timber, MDF, metal and composite materials
  • Working as a Scenic Painter or Scenic Artist
  • A full UK driving licence
