Scena is one of the UK’s leading creative construction, set design, props, staging, exhibition and manufacture companies, with over 40 years in the business. Based in South London, we design and build sets for theatre, television, film, museums, conferences, exhibitions and the music industry worldwide. We’re now looking for an experienced Scenic Artist to lead our team of painters and bring world-class creative concepts to life.

The Role
As Head Scenic Artist, you’ll lead and manage our team of skilled painters, painting and decorating sets, props, and staging for TV, film, theatre, and live events. You’ll liaise directly with clients and production managers to interpret creative briefs and bring concepts to life in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Alongside the creative work, you’ll manage paint and materials stock to keep projects running smoothly, working closely with our carpenters, makers, and designers both in the studio and on-site. On select projects, there are also opportunities for international travel.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Scenic Artist or Head Scenic Artist experience with the ability to lead a team
- A genuine passion for theatre, scenic art and set production
- Extensive scenery knowledge, including materials and construction processes
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of finish
- Confidence communicating directly with clients and production managers
- Experience managing stock, paint and materials
- Self-motivated, reliable and able to meet deadlines
- Flexible approach to working hours, with overtime available
- Ability to commute daily to our Croydon workshop (CR0 4RR)
