GRAHAM has a permanent Quantity Surveyor opportunity in its Civil Engineering division at Woking, England. The role reports to the Commercial Manager and requires a main-contracting background with substantial civil-engineering experience. Responsibilities cover project budgets, allocation of cost codes and assessment of main-contract and subcontract terms.
The surveyor will procure subcontract packages, monitor expenditure and forecast the cost of completing the works. Contract administration includes correspondence concerning delay, loss and expense, together with preparation of delay narratives to support claims. The post also involves dealing with subcontract issues, managing compensation-event procedures and maintaining contact with the employer's team.
The surveyor will work with site management on value-engineering calculations, agree project allowances with procurement colleagues and attend commercial meetings. Applicants need a degree or similar qualification, previous quantity-surveying experience and practical experience administering NEC contracts. Experience assessing compensation events and delay is preferred.
Professional membership such as MRICS or MCICES is desirable rather than essential. The employer also seeks negotiation, cost-control and communication skills, the ability to manage staff resources, and competence with office and commercial-management software.
