Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a permanent Senior Quantity Surveyor for its central London team, supporting the Letchmore Heath Substation project in Watford. The advert identifies the company as a construction partner on this National Grid infrastructure upgrade. The office base and project location are therefore distinct.
The surveyor will take commercial responsibility for allocated packages, measure and agree work values, and manage interim payment applications and certificates. Duties include drafting subcontracts, administering them through closure and preparing forecasts and monthly financial reports. The appointment also handles changes, claims and final-account negotiations, prepares contract reviews and contributes to budgets from the point of award.
Candidates need knowledge of NEC contracts, experience in power or major infrastructure projects, and a quantity-surveying or commercial-management degree. RICS membership is preferred but is not compulsory. The role requires communication and stakeholder-management skills, practical judgement about commercial risk and the ability to advise delivery colleagues.
It also includes mentoring junior staff and maintaining relationships with the client and subcontractors.
