Alongside our training centre, we have launched SCCD Recruitment which aims to partner with schools, academies, and colleges to place our qualified learners and temporary supply teachers into active classroom roles.
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Recruitment Accounts Officer / Pay & Bill Specialist to join our finance team on a part-time basis. This is a unique hybrid role: you will be responsible for managing the financial transactions of our training learners (tuition payment tracking and credit control) while simultaneously managing the fast-paced "pay and bill" cycle for our temporary supply teachers placed in partner schools. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience in an agency finance or educational training environment and can handle the core weekly and monthly accounting cycles autonomously.
Key Responsibilities- Timesheet Processing: Collect, verify, and input weekly digital timesheets for temporary supply teachers and teaching assistants placed in partner schools.
- Client Billing: Generate accurate client invoices for schools based on agreed daily, half-day, or hourly rates, ensuring correct Purchase Orders (POs) are attached.
- Compliance & Pay Structures: Liaise with third-party Umbrella companies and manage internal PAYE processes for temporary staff, ensuring full compliance with Agency Worker Regulations (AWR).
- Tuition Reconciliations: Monitor and reconcile incoming course fee payments, monthly direct debits, and installment plans from our enrolled training learners.
- Fee Collection: Courteously and professionally chase outstanding fee payments from learners via phone and email, maintaining a supportive but firm approach in line with SCCD values.
- Reconciliations: Execute daily and monthly bank, transaction, and invoice reconciliations using modern cloud accounting software.
- Creditor Liaison: Maintain professional relationships with external vendors and creditors, managing payment schedules efficiently.
- Budget Maintenance: Assist in updating monthly cash flow forecasts, tracking performance against company budgets, and providing financial variance reports to senior management.
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of direct experience working within a recruitment agency finance department, payroll bureau, or educational training institution.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven understanding of the recruitment "pay and bill" lifecycle, including timesheet software, PAYE structures, and working alongside Umbrella companies.
- Software Skills: Highly proficient in cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks) and recruitment middle-office software. Intermediate Excel skills are essential.
- Qualifications (Desirable): AAT Level 3 or 4 qualification (completed or in progress) is highly advantageous.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills—essential for collecting fees from learners while maintaining a positive student experience.
