We are looking for an experienced SQL Server DBA with DocumentDB skills to support a major cloud database migration programme. This SQL Server DBA role focuses on building, migrating and optimising SQL Server and DocumentDB environments within AWS, while ensuring robust governance, automation and knowledge transfer across DBA teams.
Your responsibilities as the SQL Server DBA:
- Create and migrate SQL Server database systems into AWS RDS using CDK, including DocumentDB.
- Upgrade and migrate existing MongoDB schemas and configurations into AWS DocumentDB.
- Administer DocumentDB environments, following AWS best practices.
- Script, test and implement database migrations and changes with a strong focus on performance and design.
- Ensure all database changes follow DDL governance processes, including Flyway deployments via GitLab and Jenkins pipelines.
- Liaise with Front End and delivery squads to ensure database code quality and alignment.
- Produce standardised templates for DDL changes and distribute to relevant stakeholders.
- Automate database deployments using Flyway and Git.
- Develop custom scripts to automate routine DBA tasks.
- Design and implement database refresh processes as required.
- Troubleshoot database issues and deliver resolutions within agreed SLAs.
As a successful SQL Server DBA, you will have:
- Microsoft SQL Server certification (2016/2019/2022).
- Proven experience migrating SQL Server databases into AWS.
- Hands-on experience migrating MongoDB to AWS DocumentDB.
- Strong knowledge of AWS RDS administration and best practices.
- Experience using AWS DMS and related migration tools.
- Experience building AWS RDS infrastructure using CDK (TypeScript, Python or Java).
- CI/CD experience with Jenkins and GitLab.
- Experience maintaining high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark, SQL and Databricks Delta Live Tables.
- Experience migrating databases from on-premise to cloud platforms.
- Experience working in project environments using Kanban and JIRA.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and Confluence.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
