Role purpose:

The Sales Support Executive (SSE) provides commercial, operational, and administrative support within the Business Partnering team, working directly with assigned Account Managers across strategic customer accounts. The role is focused on enabling account activity, improving efficiency, strengthening customer service, and supporting profitable revenue growth, rather than owning a direct sales target. The Business Partnering team works with large systems integrators, outsourcing providers, managed service providers, and other strategic partners. These organisations deliver technology and business services to end customers across the public and private sectors, including complex, regulated, and business-critical environments. The SSE must therefore understand both the immediate partner requirements and the needs, service expectations, and commercial pressures of the end customers they support. The SSE will develop a strong understanding of the assigned accounts, their stakeholders, procurement processes, commercial agreements, and operational requirements. They will work closely with the Account Managers to maintain effective account coverage, progress opportunities, resolve customer issues, and deliver a consistent, high-quality service.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated day-to-day support to assigned Account Managers across strategic customer accounts.
  • Hold regular account-priority calls with Account Managers to agree focus areas, customer actions, opportunities, risks, and deadlines.
  • Build and maintain account knowledge covering stakeholders, procurement routes, customer portals, frameworks, service requirements, vendor agreements, and commercial processes.
  • Develop an understanding of the sectors and end-customer environments supported by assigned partners, recognising how compliance, service continuity, governance, and commercial requirements can influence account activity.
  • Support the Account Managers in retaining existing business, progressing pipeline, identifying incremental growth opportunities, and improving customer engagement.
  • Coordinate quotations, pricing requests, orders, renewals, special bids, and deal registrations, working with Revenue Operations and vendor teams where required.
  • Use vendor pricing programmes, portals, and tools to secure competitive pricing and help maximise SCC margin.
  • Ensure pre-sales enquiries, quotations, orders, and customer requests are handled accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Proactively chase outstanding quotations, orders, and customer actions, keeping Account Managers informed of progress, delays, and risks.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records for assigned accounts, including opportunities, pipeline activity, customer actions, and win/loss outcomes.
  • Support meeting preparation, follow-up actions, reporting, and account reviews, ensuring commitments are captured and progressed.
  • Work with the Romania offshore support team on appropriate administrative and operational tasks, including quote management, order processing, CRM updates, and general sales administration.
  • Promote SCC tools such as Lifecycle to support standardisation, catalogue management, automation, account creation, and maintenance.
  • Develop a working knowledge of SCC products, services, and vendor propositions to support relevant upsell and cross-sell conversations and introduce the Account Manager where appropriate.
  • Take ownership, alongside the Account Managers, for coordinating the resolution of customer issues and escalating risks promptly.
  • Liaise effectively with internal teams including Credit Control, Warehouse, Operations, Enterprise, Revenue Operations, and other specialist teams.
  • Support customer product standards, lifecycle management, and transitions for end-of-life products.
  • Maintain awareness of account-specific bids, agreements, service levels, and governance requirements.
  • Follow SCC best practice and consistently deliver a high standard of service to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Keep product, vendor, and market knowledge current and apply relevant SCC offerings to the needs of assigned accounts.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a sales support, account support, or fast-paced customer environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities across multiple strategic accounts.
  • Previous account management, sales support, or customer service experience is desirable.
  • Experience of supporting upsell and cross-sell activity.
  • Ability to work effectively with Account Managers and take ownership of agreed actions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills when working with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines and escalate risks early.
  • Good IT, CRM, numeracy, and literacy skills.
  • Confidence using customer and vendor portals and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn and communicate a broad range of technology solutions.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of sales, quoting, order, and procurement processes.
  • Professional and effective communication skills, both internally and externally.
