Role Purpose
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and executing automated and manual tests to ensure the quality, reliability and performance of software applications. Working within a Scrum‑based Agile delivery environment, the QA Engineer collaborates closely with Developers, Product Owners and technical stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, maintain robust test coverage and support continuous delivery. The role includes building automation frameworks, identifying defects early and driving improvements in testing practices and overall product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts and automation frameworks.
- Execute functional, regression and performance tests using automation tools.
- Collaborate with Developers and Product Owners to define clear and testable acceptance criteria.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous quality assurance.
- Perform root‑cause analysis of defects and provide actionable feedback.
- Maintain comprehensive test documentation including test plans, cases and results.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and QA best practices.
- Stay up to date with emerging testing tools, automation technologies and QA methodologies.
- Conduct manual testing for complex scenarios where automation is not suitable.
- Contribute actively to Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
Skills and Experience
- Strong experience in test automation using tools such as Selenium, Cypress or Playwright.
- Proficiency in automation programming languages such as Java, Python or JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern QA processes.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Knowledge of API testing tools including Postman or RestAssured.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new tools, technologies and testing approaches.
- Ability to obtain required UK Security Clearance.
