We are seeking a Sous Chef / Second Chef to join a unique conference venue. The role involves preparing high-quality meals for a variety of guests, with a strong emphasis on traditional, fresh wholesome cooking and baked items. This Sous Chef position offers a good salary plus benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations.
  • Prepare a variety of high-quality meals for both individual guests and larger groups.
  • Basic pastry and bread making.
  • Adapt menus/dishes for dietary needs and allergens.
  • Uphold the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness across kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and internal procedures.

Ideal Sous Chef/Second Chef Requirements

  • Ideally 3-5 years of professional kitchen experience in a similar busy setting.
  • Pastry and bread making experience is essential.
  • Strong background in traditional cooking and baking from scratch for large groups/bulk cookery.
  • Catering qualifications preferred.
  • Confident using basic computer programs (e.g. for writing menus and allergen tracking).
  • Flexible and calm under pressure, with a team-spirited and helpful approach.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.

Hours:

  • 37.5 per week
  • 5/7 days per week - usually 1 weekend off per month on a rota basis
  • 7am-3pm and 11am - 7pm shifts
