Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled and enthusiastic cook to join our client, a busy catering operation based near Leatherhead, Surrey, in their welcoming and customer-focused environment. All food served is made fresh on-site and so the candidate must have previous experience cooking with fresh food including baking.

This Cook/Chef role offers a great work life balance with daytime only shifts. It also offers a good rate of pay plus benefits.

Working Hours:

•Monday to Friday

•Daytimes - approx. 9am – 5:30pm

•Could be flexible with shift days and times for the right candidate

Responsibilities as the Cook:

•Baking cakes, traybakes, cookies, and pastries following set recipes.

•Preparing fresh pasta dishes, salads, seasonal soups, and main meal items.

•Ensuring all food is produced to a high standard while maintaining excellent food safety practices.

•Operating kitchen equipment safely and reporting any maintenance issues.

•Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, following cleaning schedules.

•Understanding and accommodating allergies and dietary requirements.

•Supporting the team with general food preparation, dishwashing, and cleaning tasks.

•To assist in the running of the daily operations of the catering department ensuring staff are motivated with clearly defined roles, responsibilities and objectives.

•To identify training needs and support the management team in delivering training.

•To ensure compliance with food safety standards amongst all of the team in the kitchen.

•To support the management team in taking responsibility for the organisation, stock control and quality of food items.

•To support the management team in taking responsibility for and promoting safe food handling practices within the team

•Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and enhance the overall experience.

Requirements:

•Previous experience in a similar cook/chef role in a busy environment.

•A team player with strong communication skills.

•Experience in food preparation and an understanding of food safety regulations.

•Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen management.

•Adaptability and a positive approach to working in a dynamic kitchen environment.

•A smart and professional appearance with good personal hygiene.
