These might include dialysis, cancer treatments, or other critical ongoing care. More about this role
As a Patient Transport Volunteer you will be helping people in your local community access non-emergency but vital medical appointments at hospitals. Making sure they arrive in a relaxed and friendly manner and taking them back to their home address sometimes after long treatment.
You will join a growing team of Patient Transport Volunteers who are an important part of SCAS and enhancing our patient care. You will use your own car and the patients allocated to our Patient Transport Volunteers will be mobile but may need some help getting in and out of the car or to and from their appointment location.
What you will be doing
- Driving patients to non-emergency appointments
- Supporting people to access vital hospital appointments
- Liaising with PTS Dispatch Teams
- Building good relationships with patients and the wider community
- Be able and happy to volunteer independently but know you have the support of a wider team
