Our Patient Transport Volunteers play a vital role in supporting SCAS patients who need help travelling to and from their non-emergency but essential medical appointments. These might include dialysis, cancer treatments, or other critical ongoing care. By offering your time, you’ll be providing far more than a lift — you’ll be offering reassurance, kindness, and human connection during what can often be a stressful or vulnerable moment in someone’s life.

More about this role
As a Patient Transport Volunteer, you will be helping people in your local community access non-emergency but vital medical appointments at hospitals. Making sure they arrive in a relaxed and friendly manner and taking them back to their home address sometimes after long treatment. You will join a growing team of Patient Transport Volunteers who are an important part of SCAS and enhancing our patient care.
What you will be doing
- Driving patients to non-emergency appointments
- Supporting people to access vital hospital appointments
- Liaising with PTS Dispatch Teams
- Building good relationships with patients and the wider community
- Be able and happy to volunteer independently but know you have the support of a wider team
