Are you a passionate Registered Veterinary Nurse looking for a role that genuinely offers variety, development, and balance? Scarsdale Veterinary Group is delighted to offer a unique opportunity at Scarsdale Vets in Derby, combining hands‐on hospital nursing with nurse‐led consulting within a supportive first‐opinion team.

This role is ideal for an RVN who enjoys clinical excellence alongside client interaction, giving you the opportunity to develop advanced technical skills in a specialist‐led hospital while building confidence and autonomy in consulting. In this varied and rewarding position, you will split your time between hospital nursing and first‐opinion consulting.

Hospital and procedure nursing

You will support high‐quality patient care across anaesthesia, inpatient care, diagnostics, imaging and procedures. This includes performing Schedule 3 procedures under veterinary direction and working with advanced diagnostic equipment such as digital X‐ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring and in‐house laboratory diagnostics. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the hospital, including stock control, equipment maintenance and efficient clinical workflows.

First opinion nursing and consulting

You will deliver nurse‐led consultations within our first‐opinion nursing team, building strong and lasting relationships with clients. Clinics include wellness and preventative healthcare, chronic illness management, weight management, senior pet clinics, dental health and post‐operative care. This element of the role allows you to take real ownership of patient and client care while developing confidence in independent consulting.

Scarsdale Vets is a purpose‐built, modern referral hospital with exceptional facilities, including:

  • 13 consultation rooms
  • 7 hospital wards
  • 5 theatres, with expansion planned
  • Advanced imaging suite with CT, MRI and digital X‐ray
  • 3 ultrasound rooms
  • Endoscopy suite
  • Hydrotherapy pool and treadmills
  • Dedicated chemotherapy treatment rooms

You will join a large, friendly and highly skilled nursing and veterinary team, working with a diverse and complex caseload in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Hours and rota

This is a full‐time role working 38 hours per week over 4 days, with shifts between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm. There is a 1 in 4 Saturday clinic shift from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. You will also be part of the bank holiday on‐call rota, covering 1 to 2 bank holidays per year.
