Great food. Brilliant people. A kitchen with a view. At Bedruthan, we believe great food starts with great people. Our kitchen is busy, creative and full of ambition — bringing together exceptional Cornish produce, seasonal flavours and a team that genuinely cares about what comes out of the pass. We’re looking for a Sous Chef to join our brigade and play a key role in delivering outstanding food and memorable dining experiences across our 2 Rosette restaurant and family dining spaces.
Your Role:
- Lead the way - Support the Head Chef and Senior Sous in delivering smooth, organised and consistently excellent services — keeping standards high even when the kitchen is at its busiest.
- Bring people with you - Help mentor and develop junior chefs, share your knowledge and create a kitchen culture where people feel supported, challenged and proud of what they do.
- Put your stamp on the food - We love chefs who are curious and creative. Bring ideas to the table, contribute to menu development and make the most of exceptional, seasonal Cornish produce.
- Keep standards exceptional - From food quality and presentation to hygiene, safety and organisation, you’ll help ensure everything leaving the kitchen reflects the standards we’re proud of.
- Work smart - Support stock control, deliveries and waste reduction, helping the kitchen run efficiently and sustainably.
- Set the standard - Be someone the team can rely on. Lead by example, stay calm under pressure and bring energy, professionalism and consistency to every service.
What We’re Looking For:
You’ll already have experience as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen position, ideally within a quality-led hotel, restaurant or hospitality environment. More importantly, you’ll be someone who:
- Takes genuine pride in great food and great service
- Understands both modern and classic cooking techniques
- Loves working with seasonal, local and sustainable produce
- Can lead and inspire a team while still being hands‑on
- Keeps a cool head when service gets busy
- Is organised, reliable and passionate about doing things properly
- Wants to keep learning, developing and progressing
Level 2 Food Safety is preferred.
What’s In It For You?
We want our people to feel valued — and we believe that should be reflected in what we offer:
- £14.50–£15.24 per hour + tips
- Plus a share of hotel tips, typically worth around £1 extra per hour.
- Performance Boost Scheme - We recognise people who go above and beyond. By delivering brilliant guest experiences, learning across different roles and supporting the wider team, eligible team members have the opportunity to earn more on top of their base pay.
- 45-hour permanent contract
- A genuinely people-first working environment
- Learning, development and real opportunities to progress
- 28 days’ holiday, increasing by an extra day after your first year
- Long-service rewards, including a night’s stay on us
- 40% off food and drink plus team discounts across hotel services
- Local partnership discounts
- Health Shield Healthcare Plan
- Temporary on-site team accommodation available
- Free parking
- Team socials, celebrations and events
Come and Make Your Mark:
