We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Pools & Hot Tubs Team Leader to join our Property Team across Bedruthan Hotel and Spa and Scarlet Hotel. This is a specialist, hands‑on leadership role focused on the maintenance, operation and continual improvement of our spa pools, hot tubs, water systems and associated plant equipment. Alongside your technical responsibilities, you’ll provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to the wider maintenance team, helping to prioritise workloads, uphold compliance standards and ensure exceptional guest experiences across both hotels.

Working within a unique hospitality environment, you’ll combine strong technical expertise with leadership, organisation and problem‑solving skills to oversee planned maintenance, reactive repairs and ongoing operational excellence across all pool and spa facilities. As our hotels operate seven days a week, this role includes a varied rota with regular weekend working as part of the standard schedule. Weekend shifts provide the opportunity to lead operations during our busiest guest periods, ensuring our spa and leisure facilities consistently deliver the highest standards of safety, presentation and guest enjoyment.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead the day-to-day operation and maintenance of pool plant systems, hot tubs and water treatment equipment
  • Support and guide team members, helping to coordinate workloads and priorities effectively
  • Carry out daily checks of chemical balance, water quality and plant room performance
  • Ensure all pool and spa facilities remain safe, compliant and fully operational at all times
  • Respond promptly to faults, leaks or system failures, minimising disruption to guests and operations
  • Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for pumps, filters, dosing systems and associated equipment
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and water hygiene regulations, including PWTAG standards
  • Maintain accurate records of water testing, maintenance work and compliance checks
  • Support general plumbing, mechanical and maintenance tasks where required
  • Conduct regular inspections of spa and pool facilities to identify and resolve issues proactively
  • Work collaboratively with the Property, Spa and wider Hotel Teams to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Support refurbishment projects and continuous improvements across pool and spa facilities
  • Promote high standards of cleanliness, organisation and safety within all plant rooms and working areas
  • Report hazards, defects and maintenance requirements promptly and effectively
  • Participate in a flexible rota including weekends, supporting seamless guest experiences during peak trading periods
Qualifications
  • Trade qualification in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering or Pool Plant Operations (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds or equivalent) is essential
  • PWTAG Pool Plant Operators Certificate (or equivalent) is highly desirable
  • Proven experience maintaining pool plant systems, hot tubs or spa facilities is essential
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring or supervising a team is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of water treatment systems, dosing equipment and filtration systems
  • Knowledge of health & safety, COSHH and water hygiene regulations is essential
  • Additional maintenance or multi-trade skills are desirable
