Job Summary
We have vacancies for Teaching Assistants to work with children in Pre School and Reception. Salary to be negotiated depending on experience.
You will report to the Sendco/Associate Dean of EYFS. This position is term-time only.
Job Purpose
To support the teaching staff and work with other support staff to enhance the development and education of pupils. This role will involve one-to-one support.
Skills and Qualifications
- NVQ level 2 or higher qualification
- Understanding of the GCSE curriculum
- Competent ICT skills
- Cheerful, positive and enthusiastic about working with children
- Effective communicator with staff and children
- Ability to work well as part of a team
Desirable
- Further qualifications up to and including QTS
- Evidence of CPD
- Evidence of using ICT to enhance learning
- Evidence of training and experience in supporting pupils with SEN
- Proven record of contributing to a successful team
Principal Responsibilities
- Using acquired skills, support and deliver learning activities and contribute to the development of work programmes to facilitate effective teaching and learning, particularly for SEN pupils.
- Provide input to the planning and evaluation of learning activities for an individual to enable the teaching staff to make informed decisions when developing their plans.
- Supervise the activities of individuals and groups both in and out of the classroom (including educational visits) to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development in accordance with the school's behaviour management policy.
- Monitor individual pupil's progress, achievements and development and report these to the teaching staff/line manager to inform decisions taken regarding any Individual Education Plans and emotional wellbeing support for pupils.
- Liaise with parents and carers in conjunction with the teaching staff to ensure effective communication concerning the pupils' wellbeing.
- Record pupil information as specified by the teaching staff/line manager to ensure the school's information systems are maintained.
- Attend to the personal and physical needs of pupils so that their wellbeing is maintained.
- Prepare and maintain learning resources so that the objectives of the lesson plans are met for a visually impaired pupil in a safe learning environment, which complies with relevant health and safety requirements.
- Display and present the pupils' work, under the direction of the teaching staff so that it enhances the classroom environment and celebrates achievement.
- Attend staff and other meetings and participate in staff training development work and staff reviews as required.
